The South African Embassy in Washington, DC is pleased to announce the hosting of a virtual webinar featuring the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA is the U.S. Federal Government agency responsible for regulating imported foods into the U.S. and ensuring that these imports comply with U.S. import requirements.

The virtual webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, 23 February 2021 at 17h00 (SAST) and will be helpful to all who are currently exporting processed food and beverage products to the U.S., or who are planning to export processed food and beverage products to the U.S. The FDA presentation will run for an hour and will provide information on:

• Oversight of U.S. food regulations
• Overview of food labeling and where to find relevant information
• Food imports and examinations of food products.

There will also be a short Question and Answer session and we invite all interested parties to email their questions to jcheong@saembassy.org and their questions will be forwarded to the FDA.

The FDA speakers are Captain Teresa Fox and Mr. Jeffrey Read, both International Policy Analysts with the FDA (bios and invitation attached herewith).

Dr Rob Stegmann is Senior Academic in the Department of Academic Planning and Development at Boston City Campus, Stellenbosch, the Academic Head Office.
